“If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine. It’s lethal.” — Paulo Coelho

When we think of any Indian holiday destination, we have a list of things we want to try, experience or purchase. But, it is very rare that we think of trying out the adventure activities that a particular destination has to offer. Not a lot of us give these activities a shot, maybe because you have never heard of them or maybe you are scared, the reason could be anything. This is where my blog comes in, from suggestions to giving you a synopsis of what you can expect from these activities, I hope you find this blog helpful. Trekking

With the diverse topography that India has to offer, it is a paradise for trekkers from all over the world. With some of the tallest mountain ranges to dense forests, the variety of treks in India is insanely large. Does not matter if you are a professional or just a beginner with limited trekking experience, I am pretty sure you will find a trekking trail that you will enjoy. The Frozen Zanskar River Trek in Ladakh, Dzukou Valley Trek in Nagaland, David Scott Trail in Meghalaya are a few of the many famous treks in India.

Skydiving

This is hands down one of the most popular activities among adventure lovers and if we are being honest, we have all had skydiving on our bucket list at some point in our lives. As amazing as it sounds, skydiving is not for the faint of heart. The adrenaline rush you get as you jump off a plane from an altitude of approximately 10,000 feet with nothing but a parachute on your back, is unmatched. Watching the land beneath from a bird’s eye view is an experience for the books. Deesa in Gujarat, Dhana in Madhya Pradesh, Pondicherry, Aamby Valley in Maharashtra and Mysore in Karnataka are popular destinations in India to try out skydiving.

Zip Lining

If soaring high in the sky has been your dream but have never mustered the courage to fully commit to it, then you should give zip lining a shot. Zip lining also known as ‘Flying Fox’ has gained immense popularity and grown exceptionally in these past few years to become one of India’s most famous adventure activities. A person is appended on a cable with the help of a pulley and the cable is fixed on both ends. Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Mawkdok in Meghalaya, Rishikesh and Dhanaulti in Uttarakhand are some of the famous places where you can try out zip lining.

Rock Climbing

The topography of India is a great opportunity for rock climbers to get an adrenaline rush. Earlier only enjoyed by professionals, today rock climbing is for anyone who is daring enough to try it out. The main goal of this activity is to climb up a rock wall with the strength of your arms and legs, defying gravity. Rock climbing is done on natural and artificial rocks. Parvati Valley and Miyar Valley in Himachal Pradesh, Shey Rock in Jammu & Kashmir, Malshej Ghat in Maharashtra and Joychandi Pahar in West Bengal are some of the best spots to try rock climbing.

Snorkelling

If life underwater has always fascinated you and left you curious, snorkelling is a way to get to know more about the creatures of the cold blue waters. Similar to scuba diving, snorkelling is considered to be one of the safest ways to explore life underwater. Types of equipment required for this activity include fins, a breathing tube and a diving mask to name a few. Snorkelling is done from the water surface. India is blessed with places like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep which are some of the most famous destinations in India where you can go snorkelling.
